Lake Coeur d ‘Alene, located in Northern Idaho 33 miles east of Spokane, Washington and 105 miles south of the Canadian border, is filled to the brim with runoff from record snowfall.
The summers are short here yet they are perhaps the most beautiful than any other place this author has traveled. The wind blows through Ponderosa pine trees creating a musical symphony unlike anything you have ever heard.
The population is around 50,000 and for those that enjoy the outdoors, there are endless bike trails and outback to hike.
60 miles north in Sandpoint there is a Ski resort and 47 miles backtracking through Spokane is another mountain aptly named Spokane Mountain. 50 miles to the east is another ski resort called Silver mountain.
It is the summer months in Coeur d’Alene that I find the most attractive. The area becomes a boating paradise and sailors love their boats.
